To Day If Ye Will Hear His Voice,
Harden Not Your Heart.
(By : VTH)
“True we are establishing our headquarters on this mount that is found in prophecy, but our stay here shall be very, very short, for ‘He will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness : because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.’ (Rom. 9 : 28).
‘It might be interesting to Elder G. to know that the naming of our ‘camp’ ‘Mt. Carmel Center’ came about in the same way as the naming of our publications ‘The Shepherd’s Rod, ’ for we did not know before hand that it was in prophecy until after our attention was called to Micah 7 : 14 and Amos 1 : 2. In the prophecy of Amos we read :
“The Lord will roar from Zion, and utter His voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the t o p of C a r m e l shall wither.”
“With a few comments on the above scripture, any Bible student will recognize at a glance that it applies at the time of the end, as explained by the gospel prophet : ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills …… for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem’ (Isaiah 2 : 2, 3), which in the language of Amos is, ‘Utter His voice from Jerusalem.’ Looking to this same time Joel puts it as follows : ‘And the Lord shall utter His voice before His army : for His camp is very great : for He is strong that executeth His word : for the day of the Lord is great and very terrible; and who can abide it ?’ (Joel 2 : 11).
“As Amos says, ‘The habitations of the shepherds shall mourn,’ it is obvious that the habitations’ (places) is in the plural form which cannot be applied to one shepherd’s habitation (denomination) but to all that be in existence at that time. The term ‘shepherds’ means, as understood, the same as ‘the ancient men which were before the house’ --- the ministers. Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5, p. 211. Note that the shepherds are not themselves to mourn but their ‘habitations’ (their houses); that is, the membership of their churches, which fact reveals that it will be thus at the time when the sleeping multitudes in the churches awake from their spiritual insensibility and find that the shepherds whom they have implicitly trusted for their salvation had deceived all those who followed them.
“The prophet Jeremiah in the following words explains that this wailing by those who are thus deceived will be at the close of probation. For they shall say ‘the harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.’ That is, after the harvest, the time in which they could have been saved, they will realize that the probationary time has closed. Then the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.’ Hence, before that time the top of Carmel must have been green with much pasture, otherwise there would be nothing to wither; that is, though Carmel has n o w (in 1935 when this sermon was delivered) plenty of pasture (present truth), when probation closes it shall be deserted (‘wither’, for says the Spirit of Prophecy : ‘In the time of trouble we all fled from the cities and villages.” – Early Writings, p. 34.
“Thus shall the top of Carmel wither, and those who do not take heed to the word, ’To day if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts,’ at length will be alarmed that their opportunity for accepting the truth has slipped away. Then in their hasty, frenzied effort to acquaint themselves with present truth which went forth from the top of Carmel, to their surprise they shall find that Carmel has finished its work, its inhabitants removed, and probation closed, at which time the inhabitants of ‘Carmel’ can but repeat, ‘the harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we have nothing for thee.’
“Then it shall come to pass that ‘They shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it. In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst. Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord (Amos 8 : 12, 13, 11.) Oh, what a disappointment that will be !
“And now ‘mine eyes’ with the eyes of the lamenting prophet ‘do fail with tear ……. for the destruction of the daughter of My people; because the children and the sucklings swoon in the streets of the city. Thy prophets (teachers) have seen vain and foolish things for thee: and they have not discovered thine iniquity, to turn away thy captivity; but have seen for thee false burdens and causes of banishment.’ (Lamentation 2 : 11, 14)
“As the Lord has never left His people in darkness, we find the work of the shepherd’s Rod clearly outlined in prophecy throughout the Bible, and the only reason that our leading brethren cannot see the truth in it and do not know ‘who hath appointed it’ is because they are trying to see it through dollars and cents instead of through the Spirit of Prophecy, the eyes for the church, through which only can they see the truth and the true state of their condition of spiritual blindness, poverty and wretchedness, and a need for ‘eye salve,’ ‘for what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him ? Even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.’ (1 Cor. 2 : 11).
“But now as ‘the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth : for He shall not speak of Himself ; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak : and He will show you things to come’ (John 16 : 13) for without the Spirit of God ‘no man’ knoweth the things of God.” --- THE SYMBOLIC CODE, Vol. 1, No. 14. (August, 1935), pp. 5 – 7
T e a c h e r’ s C o m m e n t !
The above sermon by Bro. Houteff was delivered in 1935 in Waco, Texas, USA.
As we all know, in the same year the organization of the General Conference of SDA was re-organized by Bro. Houteff into the General Association of Davidian Seventh-day Adventist, to have met the fulfillment of the Call for a spiritual Revival and a spiritual Reformation by Mrs. Ellen G. White in the Review and Herald of February 25, 1902.It was at the same year the angel of the church of the Laodiceans, which is the General Conference of SDA was to be spewed out of Jesus’ mouth to meet the fulfillment of its prophecy in Revelation 3 : 16.
The habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, not now, but in the future, when the harvest of the wheat or the trample of the wine press will be accomplished some times in 2027. Due to the fact that the shepherds are of Carmel pastures, and since the mourning of their habitations would be just at the end of the harvest, after the diehard followers of the shepherds be convinced of their lost for failing to be saved into the Kingdom, then let it be understood that the Top of Carmel of the prophecy of Amos 1 : 2 would unavoidably mean the Headquarters of the Davidian SDA in Waco, Texas, USA. It is the leadership of the Headquarters of the Davidian SDA in Waco, Texas, which have been fallen unconsciously through the two times knockout blows delivered by the Enemy after the demise of Bro. Victor T. Houteff in 1955. Read The White House Recruiters, p. 32.
Satan has delivered two times knockout blows on the leadership of those leading at the Top of Carmel in Waco, Texas. The first blow was through Mrs. Houteff which has successfully dissolved the Head Quarters of Davidian SDA in 1962. And the second blow was through the unsuspected foes, through the professed friends of the gospel, who have regained control of the Top Carmel in 19991 up to now. In regard to these professed friends of the gospel, however, Bro. Victor T. Houteff have ever warned us in the following words : “We must be alert, too, to realize that the blow is to come from surprisingly unsuspected foes --- from professed friends of the gospel , who are no less pious than were the priests in Christ’s day.” The White House Recruiter, p. 32.
It means, that those leading at the Top of Carmel n o w are indeed our e n e - m i e s. And they are no less pious than were the Jewish priests in the time of Christ. That is, they are the antitypical Sanhedrin now in this time of the end. Thus are they, not only the General Conference of SDA is the antitypical Sanhedrin, but even the re-organized General Conference of SDA as well, which is the General Association of Davidian SDA in Waco, Texas. At the end of the harvest in the near future, they will be found by their diehard followers as the big liars, who have misled their people up to the end.
Instead of helping the Lord to accomplish the work of harvesting the first fruits of the 144.000 saints of God in the Church, they even let Him carry out the work Himself. These are they who are at the end of the harvest of the wheat or the trampling of the winepress, will be found misled by their own shepherds, either those shepherds of the angel of the Laodicea or of those now leading at the Top of Carmel in Waco, Texas.
A Fact from the Testimony
By Pastor Norman Archer / Vice President
In the Symbolic Code Session Edition, 2006, page 3, Pastor Norman Archer has the following statement :
“Accordingly, the antitypical Pre-pentecostal harvest takes place in a self-deceived church, the Laodicean, “the house of God”; and through miracle-working power manifested by Heaven itself in the angels (Matt. 13 : 39), it yields the 144.000, the first fruits of those who are never to die. Whereas the antitypical post – pentecostal harvest takes place among the nations; and through miracle-working power manifested by the Spirit-filled 144.000, it yields the great multitude which no man can number (Rev. 7 : 9), the second fruits, of those who are never to die.” — 2 TG #46 : 28.
“Here you note that that when the time came there was not even one among His servants “to uphold” the work of the harvest, and consequently the Lord Himself did the work without them.” 2 TG #44 : 38.
From the above references we can see that the work of gathering the 144.000 is the work of the Lord Himself. We need not blame one another for the apparently slow progress of the work. “
From : The Symbolic Code Session Edition 2006 Vol. 15, No. 5 - 7, page 3.
The work of harvesting the 144.000 first fruits, though, will not be accomplished in cooperation with His servants of those leading at the Top of Carmel, because they are no less pious than were the Jewish priests in the day of Christ. Therefore, the Lord Himself has previously promised us through His parables, that He still have in reserve “the servants of the eleventh-hour call,” who are to emerge not only to accomplish the work of the harvest of the first fruits in the Church, but the same work of the second fruits as well in the whole world.
As well as how His own servants of the Jewish Sanhedrin failed to uphold Him at His first advent, that He has to work alone to accomplish the salvation of the Jewish people, thus is it to come to pass in this time of the end. Not only the General Conference of SDA as the antitypical Sanhedrin now in this time of the end, but even the servants of God at the Top of Carmel, whose piety has identified themselves likewise to the Sanhedrin of old. The General Conference of SDA had been spewed out of Jesus’ mouth in 1935, and the shepherds of Carmel will positively reap the same fruits at the fulfillment of the prophecy of Ezekiel 9. This is the story narrated with more exactness by Bro. Victor T. Houteff in the TIMELY GREETINGS, Vol. 1 No. 43 as follows :
Isaiah 63 : 2 --- “Wherefore art Thou red in Thine apparel, and Thy garments like him that treadeth in the wine fat ?”
The answer to these questions introduces a series of solemn events, the events recorded in
Isaiah 63 : 3 – 5 --- “I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with Me : for I will tread them in Mine anger, and trample them in My fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon My garments, and I will stain all My raiment. For the day of vengeance is in Mine heart, and the year of My redeemed is come. And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold : therefore Mine own arm brought salvation unto Me; and My fury, it upheld Me.”
The statements, “I have trodden the winepress alone,” “I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold “ (all in the past tense) show the Saviour’s zeal and determination to save His misled people at His first advent, though there was no one with Him to help; that is, all the priests and religious leaders – the General Conference of His day (the Sanhedrin) were against Him instead of helping Him in His work. But the statements, “for I will tread them in Mine anger, and trample them in My fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon My garments, and I will stain all My raiment; for the day of vengeance is in My heart, and the year of My redeemed is come“; and “I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold : therefore Mine Own arm brought salvation unto Me; and My fury, it upheld Me (all in future tense) --- show the present church’s condition not only equally as bad as at His first coming, but even much worse. How true that history repeats ! As the day of vengeance approaches, those who are supposed to uphold and help in the work of redemption, the ministers and religious leaders, the antitypical Sanhedrin of today (the General Conference) are seen to be hindering, standing in His way of reaching the people. Thus they incur His displeasure, and necessarily He girds Himself to free His people from the hands of the unfaithful shepherds. They cause Him to stain His garments with their blood as He tramples them in His fury.
Isaiah 63 : 6 --- “And I will tread down the people in Mine anger, and make them drunk in My fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.”
The Lord’s brief explanation of the situation is amplified by the prophet Ezekiel. Says He :
“He cried also in mine ears with a loud voice, saying, Cause them that have charge over the city to draw near, even every man with his destroying weapon in his hand. And, behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which lieth toward the north, and every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer’s inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood beside the brazen altar. And the glory of the God of Israel was gone up from the cherub, whereupon he was, to the threshold of the house. And he called to the man clothed with linen, which has the writer’s inkhorn by his side; And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof. And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity: Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.” — Ezekiel 9 : 1 – 6.
Ezekiel’s prophecy plainly reveals that this cleansing work takes place in the church (Jerusalem), in the time to separate the unfaithful from among the faithful, the time to destroy the “tares” (Matthew 13 : 30), to cast out the bad fish (Matthew 13 : 47 – 49), to purify the church (Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 80), to purify the ministry (Malachi 3 : 1 – 3); to cleanse the sanctuary (Daniel 8 : 14) — the Judgment work for the Living. The Spirit of Prophecy in our day has this to say :
“……But the days of purification of the church are hastening on apace. God will have a people pure and true. In the mighty sifting soon to take place, we shall be better able to measure the strength of Israel. The signs reveal that the time is near when the Lord will manifest that his fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor ……….
“Here we see that the church --- the Lord’s sanctuary --- was the first to feel the stroke of the wrath of God. The ancient men, those to whom God had given great light, and who had stood as guardians of the spiritual interests of the people, had betrayed their trust. They had taken the position that we need not look for miracles and the marked manifestation of God’s power as in former days. Times have changed. These words strengthen their unbelief, and they say, The Lord will not do good, neither will He do evil. He is too merciful to visit His people in judgment. Thus peace and safety is the cry from men who will never again lift up their voice like a trumpet to show God’s people their transgressions and the house of Jacob their sins. These dumb dogs, that would not bark, are the ones who feel the just vengeance of an offended God. Men, maidens, and little children, all perish together.” – Testimonies, vol. 5, pp. 80, 211.

The Top of Carmel under the leadership of Bro. Victor T. Houteff could not as yet be called “antitypical Sanhedrin”, because the Holy Spirit was fully accompanying the work there during his life time. We all know that under the leadership of Bro. Houteff the world knew only one General Association of Davidian SDA in the whole world, located in Waco, Texas. USA. to be the center from which the Present Truth of THE SPIRIT OF PROPHECY be proclaimed unto the world. The unity and the oneness of the view of Davidianism in the world under the servant of the Lord was still could be purely maintained. As soon as the beloved servant of the Lord died in 1955, however, the trouble began with Mrs. Houteff herself as the culprit. And when the professed friends of the gospel who later controlled the Top of Carmel ever since 1991, have embraced the narrow minded fundamentalism of the Jewish priests origin , then began the fulfillment of the prophetic words, that they failed the work of the harvest with their Lord.
Then the parable of Jesus regarding the messengers of the eleventh-hour call will soon be fulfilled, when the Lord Himself will appoint you and me to action. The invitation will be offered to all members of the Church who are standing idle in the market place (in the Church). Thus the following words by Mrs. Ellen G. White will soon be fulfilled when she said :
“God will send forth into His vineyard many who have not been dedicated to the ministry by the laying on of hands. “ – The Acts of the Apostles, p. 110.
C o n c l u s i o n
The above article, “TODAY IF YE WILL HEAR HIS VOICE, HARDEN NOT YOUR HEART”, the first time presented by Bro. Houteff in Waco, Texas, in 1935. The naming of the Camp, “ MOUNT KARMEL CENTER”, was just done fortunately not long beforehand. In his clarification on the prophecy of Amos 1 : 2, “The Lord will roar from Zion, and utter His voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the t o p of C a r m e l shall wither.”, he seemed not quite sure that the habitations of the shepherd would represent the associations of Davidian SDA of our time, and the shepherds would be those leading at the Top of Carmel ever since 1991. This could be understood because through the pen of Mrs. White the Lord said :
“Men are instruments in the hand of God, employed by Him to accomplish His purposes of grace and mercy. Each has his part to act; to each is granted a measure of light, adapted to the necessities of his time, and sufficient to enable him to perform the work which God has given him to do. But no man, however honored of Heaven, has ever attained to a full understanding of the great plan of redemption, or even to a perfect appreciation of the divine purpose in the work for his own time. Men do not fully understand what God would accomplish by the work which He gives them to do; they do not comprehend, in all its bearings, the message which they utter in His name.” – The Great Controversy, p. 343.
The Lord, through His servant Bro. Houteff, has ever said :
“The Bible and the books of the Spirit of Prophecy being the sole source of the Shepherd’s Rod message, therefore when the Rod is taught, the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy are taught. And since none but the Spirit of Truth, who transmitted the mysteries of Inspiration, can interpret them, then those who attempt to teach them without this inspired interpretational Authority, inevitably fall into the forbidden practice of private interpretation (2 Peter 1 : 20) --- the great evil which has brought Christendom into its present almost boundless state of schism and consequent confusion, strife, and impotency.
“As we dare not follow in such a path, we must therefore, as teachers of the Shepherd’s Rod ( the official publications of the Davidian SDA Association ), teach only in the light of the Rod those passages which in one way or another need to be interpreted. Thus only will all Present Truth believers ever become of the same mind, seeing eye to eye and speaking the same things ( 1 Cor. 1 : 10; 1 Pet. 3 : 8 ; Isa. 52 : 8 ).” --- Fundamental Beliefs, pp. 28, 29.
Today the VOICE OF THE LORD will be heard, not only through the original article presented by Bro. Houteff in 1935, but also as now taught in the light of the Rod by a divinely appointed teacher, after those passages which in one way or another should have been re-interpreted.
TO DAY IF YOU WILL HEAR HIS VOICE,
HARDEN NOT YOUR HEART !
